Rylee's great year in preschool!!!!

Rylee has had the most wonderful year at the most wonderful preschool. This is her and her teacher Miss Colleen, whom Rylee just loves!!! Rylee has learned so much this past year and has loved being old enough to go to school. She is so excited and ready for Kindergarden, even though I'm not sure I am=) They ended the year with a program of songs and poems that they had learned through out the year, it was a blast!!!!!

Gavin knew all of the songs that they sang just from learning them from Rylee singing them at home.

This past weekend I was able to go to San Fransisco with my parents and my brother. We had a lot of fun. Here are just a few pictures from my trip, some of the sites, and others of the wedding. There is a surfer in this one, even though he is hard to see.

I took the kids to the park the other day for a picnic and some fun playing on the playground. It was really windy and Gavin was really cracking me up by getting upset every time something almost blew away. I thought that maybe he was tired and I was right. When we were done eating Rylee ran over to the playground and Gavin wanted to stay on the blanket with me=) As you will see below he was soon asleep and he stayed that the way the whole time we were there. Rylee had fun!!!!!

Jonathan decided to take Rylee skiing for the first time last Saturday. I love the top picture of the two of them looking so happy. You will notice the next picture shows Rylee quite frustrated because she kept falling=) We have had so much fun enjoying Utah and I can't believe how fast our time here has gone by. We have loved living so close to my parents and my sister Lisa and her family. I am realizing that the older I get the quicker time seems to fly. Rylee will be starting kindergarten in the fall--crazy I know. She has started reading. She picks up on things so quickly. Gavin makes me laugh everyday with his funny comments, he is so boy!!! Let's hope that the next two and a half months go by somewhat slower=)

So Gavin is three!!! I can't believe how fast the past three years have gone. He has been such a blessing in our lives. Just a few of the many many things that I love about Gavin are: his silly cheesy smile. When he smiles I can't help but smile. When he points to someone or something, he closes one eye--it's so funny. His adorable speech! I love the way he talks. He is probably going to need speech therapy but for now it's so cute. He just loves playing with Rylee and being with her. On the days that she is in preschool he hates going to the gym, but if Rylee is with him he will go in as happy as can be. I love how he is such a boy. For those that know me well, I'm pretty much girly girl and so to have a son that loves trucks and tractors and trains and dirt and just being naughty (yes he LOVES to be naughty) is a lot of fun. So again happy birthday to my Gavin!!!!!

Christmas in Utah was the first Christmas that the Trout family has all been together since Lindsay got married, crazy huh:) So we decided it was time for some good old family pictures. Our wonderful friend Cortney Heintz took these for us the day after Christmas at the Joseph Smith Memorial building in downtown Salt Lake City. We had so much fun and got some great pictures:)

We had some fun taking pictures on Sunday morning. We actually got some really cute ones of the whole family. We went to see Santa and Rylee was so excited to tell him EVERYTHING that she wants for Christmas (which is a lot!!!) Gavin would have nothing to do with him=)

We went to see the lights at Temple Square last night with my parents and it always amazed me how beautiful it is. Whoever designs the colors does such an amazing job. We went inside on of the visitors centers and listened to a choir sing, Rylee (above watching) did not want to leave. I think I have a little future entertainer on my hands. We decided to not attempt parking so we rode trax and the kids just think that is the coolest thing we can do here:)

We had a blast this Thanksgiving at my parents house. Lisa, Jonathan, Jordan and Parker were there and we just had so much fun. Dinner was SO YUMMY--we had a few funny setbacks, like the turkey not being done, and the jello looking funny:) We let the kids decorate graham cracker houses and they loved it, of course they ate more candy than they put on their houses, but it was fun.

This picture is classic. Gavin finished eating before everyone else and so I let him down to play, well his idea of playing was putting the jello on top of the mashed potatoes--yummy!!!!

This one is random, but Jonathan and I went to the BYU vs. Air Force game last weekend and had a blast---Go BYU!!!!!!!

Beauty and the Beast

I took Rylee to see Highland High's production of "Beauty and the Beast". We had such a great girls night!!! She loved all of the characters and the songs. She was so funny, b/c she kept pointing out to me that the characters were not the real ones (like the real Belle) But they were just wearing costumes and pretending--but she loved it. We then had to get her picture taken with most of the characters, I even tried to leave before getting a few of these and she wouldn't have it. I have such an angel:) The picture above it Ry and Belle and the one below is, obviliously, the beast.

I got a much needed break on Saturday. One of my best friends, Shantay, came down from Idaho with some super cute gals and we spent the day SHOPPING WITHOUT KIDS!!!! It was fabulous!!! I have needed a break. I love being a mom, my kids are amazing. But sometimes I crave adult female conversation. Rylee has been asking for a baby lately, not a toy one but a real one. And she knows that I have to have the baby in my tummy, but she believes that I will then give it to her and she will name her (b/c she KNOWS that we will have a girl) Ariel!!! I will need help if I do have another girl, b/c I really don't want an Ariel:) When I asked her what we should do if I have another boy she responded, "don't worry mom, we can just give him to Gavin!" So folks, this is the reason that we have more children:) And no I'm not pregnant right now:) So thanks girls for a wonderful day, the little breaks always help me remember how blessed I am!

I can't believe that my little girl is 5 years old. I think she really had a fun day. My sister Leslie helped me make the sweetest cake ever. Rylee wanted a barbie cake, and we made it happen:)

We had a wonderful Halloween. Friday night we had a Trunk-or-Treat with our ward and the kids had a blast. There was a hay ride and we had a yummy dinner after. My sister, Leslie, flew in on Friday night and so we headed to my parents on Saturday morning for a weekend of fun. We spent a good part of Friday working on Rylee's birthday cake. We took the kids trick-or-treating and Rylee and the twins had a blast. As for Gavin, well you will notice the pictures of him sitting on the drive way, that was him at most houses. One house even did a haunted house in their garage, it was pretty cool--however all the kids cried:) My kids were on a total sugar high and it took them FOREVER to fall asleep, but we sure had fun:) Rylee was the most beautiful Sleeping Beauty and Gavin was a chicken:)

Back to Rexburg

So I know that it has been forever since I have posted. I just get so busy doing things that I forget. But my mom and my sisters don't forget, and so mom and Leslie this is for you:) Last week we went back to Rexburg, where Jonathan and I met. It was crazy to see how much the campus has changed since we left. Of course there is the temple there now, which is so beautiful. We had so much fun with Emily, Trevor and Jared. We saw some beautiful waterfalls, a bear in the road, and we went to Yellowstone. The best though, was the horse back riding. I have to say that was probably one the coolest things I have ever done. We went on a 3 1/2 hour horse back ride near Yellowstone. It was so beautiful. The kids had a blast, even though Rylee wanted a sparkly horse with a horn on it's head:) I have posted a lot of pictures to make up for not posting. There are some great ones of Rylee getting her face painted. There was a lady painting faces at the farmers market in Rexburg, but when you see the pictures you will realize that face painting is not really the right word, the lady was an artist.
I ca n't believe that we have been in Utah for 3 1/2 months now. I knew that our time here would go fast, but all the same I wish it would slow down. We really do love it here.
And to end, Jonathan will find out this week if he is accepted into one endo program and we still have another interview, so we will keep everyone posted.

Camping trip to Moab

We took our first camping trip as a family to Moab, Utah and we had a blast!!!

There were these little caves everywhere and the kids just loved going in them because they were just the right size for them:)

I really did not want my picture taken because we were camping which means, don't look close:)

I thought this was the greatest picture. I took it and a photographer beside me asked if he could take one as well:)

So we go our tent set up and looked up and this is what we saw. I don't know if you have ever tried to stake a tent down in sand and then have a storm hit--it was fun. Jonathan and I were with the kids inside holding the tent down while the kids were scared to death--good times!!!

I ate so many Smores--YUMMY!!!

Okay I know this one is random--but I want to document everything that we do while we are in Utah and so the day before we went camping we toured the capitol. We went with our new neighbors and had a lot of fun learning a little bit about this great state that some thought would never flourish--isn't it amazing to have a Prophet on the earth!!!!

We decided to take the kids on a hike today up to Ensign peak. As you can see from the pictures the trip started our way fun:)

The kids actually had a blast though once we started hiking, and they loved the view at the top.

On our way down Rylee wanted to pick flowers so instead I told I would take a picture of them with all the flowers and it turned out to be one of the cutest pictures that I have ever taken:) We really are loving Utah:)

Bear Lake

We went to bear lake this past weekend with my sister Lisa and her husband Jonathan and there two adorable twins, Jordan and Parker. We stayed with Jonathan's (Lisa's husband:) sister and her family. We had a lot of fun, even though it was freezing cold which meant no beach:( Oh well.

Graduation was so wonderful. I just could not believe that the past four years of studying (and I mean four years of not seeing my hubby:) were over. My mom was there with me and she laughed when I got teary eyed when he walked in, but hey see it from my side--I just got my husband back:)

Jonathan received the endo award which was really great since it is what he would like to do.

Rylee makes us laugh everyday with the cute things that she says. Last night Jonathan and Rylee went out to dinner and this was my conversation with Rylee when they got home.
Mom: Rylee did you have fun tonight?
Rylee: Yes, and I cannot tell you about the chocolate, it's a surprise.
Mom: Oh really, then you better not tell me about the chocolate.
Dad: Rylee, did you tell mom about this chocolate that we got. (pulling a bag out of half eaten chocolate)
Rylee: yes, but I didn't tell her about the other one that we got for her.:)

So can anyone guess what my husband and daughter got me for Mother's Day? Her innocense is so refreshing:)

We had such a wonderful Easter. Jonathan and I actually spoke in church today. I always get so nervous when I speak, but I learn so much preparing for a talk. Jonathan's parents were able to be there which was special because I was also released from my calling today, which was bitter-sweet. (For those who are wondering--Jerrie Smith:) We then had a wonderful dinner with my family and Jonathan's parent's and talked about the true meaning of Easter. All in all it was a wonderful day:)

The Saturday before Easter we have named "Spring Day" in our family. This is the day that the Easter Bunny comes and we have an Easter egg hunt. The young families in our ward had an Easter egg hunt and the kids had so much fun. I love the picture with Rylee and Madison (her eye's just had to be closed:)

I ran my first race ever--a 10k. It was so much fun. Talk about adrenaline rush running with 30,000+ people. I will definitely do another race.

Since I started taking my cake decorating class, Rylee has wanted to learn as well. We found this cute mini-cake at the store and I gave her three different bags with colored frosting and she had a blast and made a beautiful creation.

This was my final cake that I did for my class.

There is just something sweet, angelic and priceless when this little guy sleeps:) Maybe it's the fact that he's a monster when he's awake:) I know he has pink sheets, but it's just until we move to Utah, then he gets sheets with trucks (he will have a bigger bed:)

Since we switched to the big bed from the crib this is where he prefers to take his naps.

Food, Cake and Rylee

Today was a stay-at-home-all-day kind of day!!! So around dinner time we were all antsy to get out. So we decided to go to the grocery store!!! Fun huh?:) Each of us got five dollars (except Gavin) to pick out something for dinner. We really had a lot of fun. Rylee chose Pop tarts and Mac & Cheese, I chose a can of soup and a bag salad and Jonathan chose yellow squash and and corn on the cob and ice cream (he went over:) It was a very interesting but super fun dinner.

This is my first cake that I have decorated!!! A few friends of mine and myself are taking a cake decorating class, which has turned out to be a lot of work:) but it's a lot of fun as well. I think I ate more frosting last night though than I have in a long time:) I'm excited to be able to decorate cakes for my kid's birthdays and for whenever I'm in the mood for cake:)

And last but not least my Rylee saying of the day:) Yesterday while we were out side playing Rylee found a dried up seed pod that was broken in half so you could see all the seeds (kind of like a pea pod) Any way, Rylee picked it up and very seriuosly said "Oh no, someone's teeth fell out!!) We got a good laugh out of that:)

I love the innocence of little children. We were at Walmart the other night and I was having a long day. While we were there a man was following us around whistling at me and it was really getting on my nerves. I was ignoring it really well until Rylee, very loudly I might add, asked "mom, why it that guy making noises at us?" He totally turned around and walked away and I just had to laugh.
Yesterday was the winter ball and I was beginning to get ready and Rylee came in to help me by playing with my jewelry and she broke my necklace. I was so upset, which I told her and then I asked her to go to her room and think about it. Well she stomped off to her room and mumbled, very loudly again:), "I don't have to think about it, I already know that I broke it". And again I just had to laugh, she totally sounded like a teenager:)
I thought that being a mom I would be teaching my children but I never knew how much they would teach me.

The dental school throws a winter ball every year and it is so much fun. As you can see I had a blast curling my hair and getting dressed up to go out. The had the dance at the science museum which was really cool, however the best part was the chocolate fountain-- I have got to get one:) Happy Valentine's day to all:)

Well it is official we are heading to Utah!!! Jonathan got accepted to the residency program at the VA Hospital there in Salt Lake City and we are so excited. I can't wait to live close to my parents and my sister Lisa. We have so many wonderful friends here in Virginia that we love so much and it will be sad to say goodbye. I really can't believe that our four years here is almost up:) Time sure does fly. We came here with a 6 month old little girl and we are leaving with a four year old and a two year old--crazy!!!! Mom and Dad, I hope you don't get too sick of us:)

Okay, so I know this is picture overload--but my baby girl is 4!!!!! On her birthday I was looking back at all of her baby pictures and just found myself crying, wondering where 4 years has gone--I blinked. Rylee had a fun birthday, we gave her three options on her birthday and she chose to go to the Cheesecake factory with our really good friends, Cortney and Jason Heintz. We had a lot of fun, however, there is a train there that we told her she could ride and we told her she had to wait until after we ate--yep it was closed when we finished:) I think she still had fun though-they came and sang happy birthday to her at the restaurant.

Labor Day

We spent this Labor Day at the York Town beach. We had so much fun. The kids loved playing in the sand and the water!!! The water was warm and the waves were small so the kids were in heaven:)

So the last post was all about the crazy drive, but we really did have a wonderful time. I wish I lived closer to my family. Minus the drive there, this was probably the best summer!!! Pictures speak a thousand words so I posted a lot of them:)

I really was crazy to drive to Utah!!!!

I know it has been a while since I have posted. We are in Utah right now having a lot of fun with my family. However, it hasn't all been fun. So my mom and I had this great plan to drive to Utah, starting in Virginia, with my brother (who is 12) my two kids and a dog:) Well after the first hour of driving my mom and I were calling my dad begging him to buy us plane tickets to get home (yes we were going to drive). Well this was just from crying kids which I really can handle, but then Rylee all of the sudden would not go to the bathroom. She would scream every time we would try and get her to go and it had been like 12 hours since she had gone, so off to the ER in Broomfield, CO. They test her for a UTI (of course she wouldn't pee in the cup so they had to catheterize her to get a drop. They strapped down her arms and then had three nurses also holding her down. I couldn't stay in the room for this, but when the male nurse came to get me he said that Rlyee was the strongest 3 year old he had ever seen in his 20 years of being a nurse:) any way, so the test came back negative, so then they decided to do an ultra sound. You have to realize that it is 11 pm and we had just driven 11 hours, so she was in pain and completely exhausted. Well they decide that her bladder is too full. So the have to catheterize her again. Luckly this time to don't make it in with the catheter before she just pees all over them:) Well so we thought that this was the end of that. So the next day in the morning she wakes up and she has to pee, but she won't. So I just put a diaper on her and held her on my lap and wouldn't let her cross her legs until she peed, it worked and she said she felt better so I thought everything was good. The next day we were leaving for our drive to utah and we knew we couldn't leave unless she went, and she wouldn't and it had been 24 hours this time, so off to the ER again. I can't say how happy I was when this test came back positive for a UTI. Well to make a long story short, I guess shorter:), she would only go in a diaper then for about a week and then I finally told her after she pooped in her diaper and then brought me the diaper and wet wipes and layed down right in front of me that she was done with diapers. we put panties on her and she has been good since. So the thing that was the most difficult for me through out this whole thing was her strong will. Nothing I said or did would make her go pee. My emotions were more of a roller coaster then when I was pregnant b/c I was helpless when it came to helping my little girl. So anyways:) That is the story of my crazy trip to Utah. when I get home I will post all of the fun times:)

A Spiritual journey

We had such a wonderful lesson today on personal revelation. I stopped and tried to think about the many times that the spirit has touched my life by testifying a truth to me. I also realized that I usually do not write these sweet experiences down, so I am going to write one now and share:) We had a lesson not too long ago about the Gifts of the Spirit and we talked about how we can pray for these gifts. Well I had never really thought about praying for them before so I did. Well we recently had some boundary changes in our ward and we received quite a few member from another ward, which was a hard change for them. I really prayed that I would be able to help them feel loved and welcome in our ward. My answer came as the new families came and introduced themselves and I found that I was remembering everything about them after the first time meeting them. I had faces memorized in my mind, names, jobs, anything that they told me. This to me was a gift, because on my own I have a hard time remembering names let alone any of the other things. I know that this was a blessing to those that joined our ward because they felt like someone knew them and that they belong. Well I usually don't write a lot on our blog--but I might start writing more:) I guess I should add pictures of my cuties too:)

This is Rylee with Madison Heintz. Today Cortney and Jason took Rlyee on a walk and Rylee asked them the big question--"how did baby Madison come out of your tummy?" Then later on we were looking at pictures and when we got to one in which I was pregnant with Gavin I asked her who was in my tummy and she responded "baby Madison." I have come to realize that she has no memory of me being pregnant with Gavin, to her he has just always been here:)

One More Year!!!

So right now is a very bitter sweet time for us. Jonathan is now in his fourth year of Dental school, which we are very excited about. This year will be focused on mainly on working in the clinic and then filling out a lot of applications for a residency program for next year. We are sad though to see the class above us leave. We have made so many wonderful friends and we are truly going to miss them---we wish you all good luck!!! So exactly one year from now I will be married to Dr. Jonathan Coudron--cool huh:)

We love picking strawberries. It has always been one of our favorite things to do. Jonathan always has to bring a large can of whipped cream and he uses the entire thing, well maybe not by himself, as you can see. Rylee seems to like the whipped cream as well. Gavin just kept eating and eating. As you can see from the picture of him in the car, he ate so much it put him out:) The best part is the homemade strawberry ice cream that we made when we got home--yum yum:)

We have reached the point where Rylee no longer will take naps so we usually do some sort of "quiet time." Well the other day she was particularly grumpy and I knew that she needed a nap so I put her in her room and locked the door. Well she was playing and then all the sudden she got quiet. So I went in to peek and she literally fell asleep mid-playing:) Of course I had to get her out because I was afraid she would fall out. Here is the adorable picture!!!!

We went to Myrtle Beach with our Awesome friends Trevor and Alissa Lindgren. We had so much fun seeing alligators, playing in the sand (it was way to cold to swim) and just exploring the city:) We had a blast!!!

Jonathan and I went to a dance that the Dental school and that Med school puts on each year around Valentine's Day. It was a lot of fun getting all dressed up and going out for a night without kids:) We went with our really good friends, Trevor and Alissa Lindgren.

I just can't believe that my baby is one. This year has just gone so fast. Gavin is such a joy in our family.

He got this present from his Mimi and Grandpa!!!! Rylee still isn't sure why she didn't get one too--we'll have to work out expaining that one:)

He is really starting to walk more.
So I have always made really creative cakes for Rylee's birthday, but I figured Gavin doesn't know any different right now, I'll start next year---that's not so bad is it?:)

We were able to celebrate Rylee's 3rd birthday with our wonderful friends the Sampsons. I can't believe how fast our little girl is growing up. We were also able to spend Thanksgiving with Jonathan's parents and his beautiful sister Tami. We are so lucky to live near family!!!

1. I am a cronic cheek biter. I have had this habit since I was in grade school and I still do it. It actually has some long technical name that Jonathan learned in Dental school, but I don't remember it.

3. Most people don't know this but I am half Spanish. My mom is Spanish:)

5. I love to read!!! I am, however, one that can not put a book down when I start, so my poor children have to ask me 20 times for something. I guess that's why I don't read as often as I would like:)

These kids brighten my day!!! We were so blessed to have my Grandma and Grandpa come to Virginia to visit us. We had a blast and I'm so glad that they were able to get to know Rylee and Gavin:)

Gavin is sitting on his own

So Gavin just started sitting on his own and well I don't think that I am ready for him to bo so grown up. He really is growing up faster than Rylee did. But he sure does get cuter so that helps.

Rylee has been begging me to wear this dress but I kept telling her that it was too small, since it is a 3 to 6 month dress. Well I guess it fits!!! It's a little short so we turned it into a shirt, but still SHE IS ALMOST 3!!!!

Fun at the beach

We just had a wonderful vacation at Ocean City, MD. My parents drove to Richmond to pick me and the kids up (Jonthan couldn't come b/c of school--we were pretty bumed) and we then drove to Ocean City. My mom got Gavin to sleep every day that we went to the beach. It was so nice b/c we were always there during one of his naps. A close friend of mine, Heather, was able to come fly in and spend the week with us also.

It was a lot of fun spending time with my parents and Preston and Lachelle.
They have a board walk and for some reason I desided to go one night. Well this is Rylee at the board walk. It took us about 20 minutes to dive back to the condo because we hit every red light possible and Gavin was screaming the entire time. Fun times:)

It took us about 6 hours to drive to Ocean City so we stopped a few times to let Rylee get some wiggles out.
I couldn't believe how well Gavin slept at the beach. Rylee absolutely loved the sand. She was a little uneasy about the ocean, but by the end she would go in with some one holding her. She loved being buried in the sand.

My mom thought it would be fun to feed Gavin, more ended up on my mom and Gavin then in his tummy:)
I think this picture is adorable. I know that my sisters will think his hair looks funny, but I love it!!!

So it's been a long time since I have posted and I do have a good excuse--Rylee broke our camera. I know I could have blogged without pictures, but I didn't. We have had a really good summer though. Jonathan had most of the summer off and so we were able to go to the pool and the park a lot. We were really sad that he had to go back to school this week, however it is exciting that he is starting his 3rd year. It feels like we just moved here and now we are half way done. Well in two weeks I will be going to the beach with my family for a week with the kids, so I will have tons of pictures (I hope) to post then. And if you were wondering who the handsome young man is in the first two pictures--that's Jared, Jonathan's brother:)

Rylee is loving the warm summer weather. She LOVES playing outside. As you can tell she also loves wearing dresses everyday!!! But then again she is a princess and princesses are supposed to wear dresses everyday--if you didn't know that then you aren't with it either:)

Ok so I know I keep posting all these pictures of my kids, but what can I say I think they are cute. I gave Rylee her first hair cut. I was noticing while we were at the pool the other day that when her hair was wet it was all the way to her bum. So I decided it was time for a trim. It still has some curl but not like it used to. And you will also notice that Gavin is almost as big as Rylee now:)

I can't believe how fast and how MUCH Gavin is growing. He is so much bigger then Rylee was. This is Gavin's best buddie, Jace. He is about 3 weeks older than Gavin:) Rylee loves having the babies around, she is so good with them.

Strawberry Patch

Today was Jonathan's birthday and so we went to the strawberry patch. We had so much fun eating and eating and eating strawberries. If all those strawberries weren't enough, Jonathan wanted apple pie for his birthday--I think I put on 10 pounds today:) OH WELL!!!!! Rylee loved the strawberries and they had a big pool like thing full of corn, as you can see from the pictures, and she loved it!!! To say the least, it was a pretty great day!!!
